Introduction
Though I am only beginning to explore the world of Steampunk, I have been a subconscious fan for some time. As a lover of both science fiction and classic literature, I have always enjoyed the works of H. G. Wells and Jules Verne. I also loved the style of movies like Wild Wild West, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and The Prestige, without knowing they were ‘steam’. One of my favorite TV shows is Warehouse 13, which has some steampunk elements.

Like most people, I discovered the world of Steampunk through the internet. I was amazed to discover all these Victorian style ‘Mods’. I love when people take modern technology and give it an ‘antique’ feel. Seeing these images made me want to find more. I eventually began searching for steampunk everything, from clothing to music.

One of my friends posted some songs on her livejournal account, saying she had fallen in love with these bands. I didn’t even know there was a Steampunk music style. I have to say that I played those songs every time I turned on my computer. I have since acquired a collection of music that I listen to regularly. I know everyone seems to be obsessed with Abney Park, and they are fantastic, but my favorite group is The Cog Is Dead. I love the diversity of their songs. Musical Menagerie is probably my favorite song right now.

It will be a while before I go to any events as I am still putting together my persona/outfit, but I’m having a blast in the mean time.

Amazing, I could feel it in my bones that there were more of us in Riverside... Mayhaps time to create our own steam family for Riverside.

Hi there!

I'm new to this too, so it'll be nice to have someone from the area to forge ahead with me! :)

Why hello! Finally. I have been feeling like the only person stranded on a deserted island out here. I tried to start a group here for Inland Empire people but had no interest. Maybe it's time to try again? I have not been able to find anything happening close to us, yet. There is a group out in Palm Desert (I will send the link later) but that is still quite a drive for us. For the moment we appear to be stuck in between events. Tis a shame because we have such wonderful old buildings and architecture out here that would be great places to meet. Have fun here! Val
