Freedom is. . .

Being able to do calligraphy after a 15 year hiatus due to evil people and influences.  Being able to start binding books again after being discouraged for almost as long as the calligraphy ban has been in effect.  I dream of being able to bind the history of the Airship Archon, but I haven't told anyone I'd like to yet and that basically means, I don't know the history, so someone's going to have to write it out for me.  Or maybe we can make it a gigantic game and everyone contributes.:)See More

Introduction
Salutations! Mme Magdalena here, time travelling librarian exploring the Orient of the 1880s with my darling travelling companion. We met in Meiji Japan, where he was training in the martial arts and teaching everyone he met European Chess. Our steamship to China suffered damage due to a typhoon and we are now accidentally embroiled in Korea's Donghak Revolution!

I'm contemplating. . .

making my hand bound books again. With the introduction of machine produced everything, it is nice to have a solidly handbound book in my hands for taking down my observations when I'm out in nature. Making it myself means I have the assurance that the paper is archival and will last aeons. But then, I think I may be a little old fashioned when it comes to my accoutrements!

Whatever schedule suits you.

People often want it fast, want it cheap, and want it good. At best, you can only pick two, often only one. I tend to leave fast as the last priority.

Ha! I am not that easily alienated.

If you assay to produce some stylish handbound journals, I would be willing to make you a custom fountain pen ( or perhaps one of the new Kugelschreiber writing instruments ) with a barrel of some exotic wood, in exchange for one. Even the rare Pink Ivory wood, which is quite attractive ( though this would be a poor choice if you are contemplating a trip to Zulu territory- possession by non-royalty carries a sentence of death there ).

The windows are oval. They are only on the doors. I would love to frame them with wood and brass fittings. At this time, I am concentrating on the INSIDE. I want to put the effort into the space where I plan to do a good bit of my work. It will be such a relief to know I can work anywhere and it will be MY space!

OK, details. Hubby wants to add the light plant and wanted to know if I wanted a gas hook-up for a stove or a refrigerator.....I told him I wanted the light plant to fit inside one of the bays that already are built into the exterior so now must wait on further developments until these nuts and bolts are managed. He says he will have to do a custom light plant so that may take a bit more time. I suggested he visit the steampunk universe for my inspiration for the insides. He says I will like it better if we keep to white as much as possible for the insides. I want a bit of wood and plenty of brass. He reminded me that he has lived in quarters this size and more than once developed them from a shell, so I'm keeping my focus on my person intended use, and my thematic elements. he is right, I will keep the bolder colors for accents like a small towel or a picture on the wall. Some of my ideas he said no to because they would cause rattling while going down the road--this was a good thing to be told!

Been writing the take home final for graduate school. Had to be NO LONGER than 8 pages.....I edited all day to get it that short! Tomorrow I do one last polish and have to do the other major take home final for the other graduate class...this one is simple by comparison, only ONE section, but it must be a minimum of 10 pages long.
