I'm a bit confused ... I don't know how to do anything except write, and in retrospect Franklin doesn't seem appropriate to your project.
FYI, it's an idea I'm working on myself: the biggest mystery / search and rescue attempt in Victorian imperial history. In May 1845 (in reality) Sir John Franklin sailed off with 128 sailors in 2 state-of-the-art ice-cutting wooden ships converted into steamships to discover the Northwest Passage, and disappeared somewhere around Beechey Island King William Island in what is now Canada's Northwest Territories. From 1847-74, the British Admiralty and his widow sent off 40 expeditions to find him. My story involves a rescue attempt with an airship, so the air crew must race against the conventional crews to solve the mystery (and end the days of wooden ships and lateral vision of the earth.)
Will read up on your project.
