Mmmhmm. Lawyers, Guns, and Money all seem to have the same attributes: We never have them when we need them most! I had my heart set on Wondercon in San Francisco this year...instead my car died, so I get to have car payments instead. I do quite adore my little PT Cruiser, though, purchased used, of course, but she is lovely and her design hearkens back to yesteryear, so we get on nicely!
I'm going to enjoy it through photographs and emails, and a lady who shops at my work helps to organize it, thus I'm already hearing about League of Steam's imminent arrival and other fun facts.
But I digress, I know it can be frustrating to have to work around schedules and cashflow. I work and then come home and work on my manuscript, get in a little me time on SPEmpire, then repeat, but making ends meet is difficult. There is a cure however for these blues: Be creative, even if you can't go to this one, work on a little something for the next gala!
I'm getting parts and parcels and this and that together to build a ballgown for next year, and other events. I've decided to try my hand at making my own personal dressmaker's dummy, if I can't find one cheap enough, and have begun haunting thrift stores for inexpensive resources. I even received, cost free, a box of parts to use, through a fellow member of the Empire!
So, keep doing what you have to do, finish that education! But do check out SPE resources to keep your creative juices flowing until you can make an event.

I don't get out much, busy running Widow's Walk ,et al., but I'm sure SP folk exist in your neck of the woods. I'm not going to Gaslight Gathering, but I think you should, Madame Young&Fair! Downtown San Diego is not too a far leap from the Southbay area, and rumor has it it is going to be a large gathering. Well, I'm for tea and Morpheus awaits...
