Professor G. L. MacGregor replied to Zoe k's discussion Turning plastic into copper
"Do you want the copper to be shiny and new or old and worn? One trick I often used when painting something that I want to look weathered is to use a black base coat and then dry brush the top color (copper in this case) over it. The black base tones…"

Professor G. L. MacGregor replied to Lady Rayna Keller's discussion How do you age clothing?
"A quick search of the aethernet showed several techniques for weathering clothing. Unfortunately, most of them would probably damage a delicate item like this. (I don't think you want to use sandpaper, for example.)"

Professor G. L. MacGregor replied to Lady Rayna Keller's discussion Does anyone know of where I can find instructions for an armlet?
"When you say "armlet", I assume you mean something that goes around the upper arm rather than the wrist. That's pretty simple because it's essentially a very short belt. (Wristbands are a tiny bit more complicated because they…"

Introduction
Good evening to you all. I am Professor MacGregor, scholar and craftsman.

My interests are varied and occasionally useful. I am an inveterate tinkerer, a student of the fighting arts of the mysterious Orient, and enjoy the occasional game of skill and wit. At present, I occupy my time creating marvels of brass and leather for the advancement of science.

That is an excellent piece of headgear indeed, and I highly endorse your acquisition of it!

I like Captain Spaulding especially for cosplay because he always struck me as something of a fraud... Also, when I was a long-haired kid, I needed to play Groucho characters with hats so that I could hide my hair, so I was always either Captain Spaulding or Professor Wagstaff. That isn't an issue now, but Captain Spaulding does fit in wonderfully with the era. :)

It was nice to meet you and Amanda, too! I'm sure we'll be at many of the same events, as Capt. Buford and I don't live too far away from you at all. (And my whole persona did grow out of the Captain Spaulding bit - I've been dressing up as Groucho from time to time since I was ten, and it seems he's followed me into steampunk!)

Thank you sir, most kind of you.  I so rarely advertise as I typically like the "word of mouth approach, so it's most gratifying to know a few of the ads are interesting to people.  Your compliment on my website is perhaps even greater than you realize in today's "automatic website" environment.  I design all my own graphics and still program "old school" with hard code, so I consider the site one of my creations in a more artistic sense.  So again, thank you most heartily.  It's a great pleasure to meet you.
