Explorations into the "worlds we know and the worlds we know not." Lord Dunsany "At The Edge of the World."
I spent the morning watching Ted Kennedy's funeral but then had to interrupt it to go off to a writer's workshop. Still, those images of the Kennedy children saying goodbye to their father and uncle stayed with me and influenced my writing for the day.

A Farewell to Cousin Ted

When tombstones crumble into dust
To fall, small parts of us among the grass
I wander slowly beside the rust.
When tombstones crumble into dust
He left us earlier than we thought
Turning us into fragile, broken glass
When tombstones crumble into dust
To fall, small parts of us among the grass.

Thanks for your comments on the 'Oldroid' video. The visuals are actually all the work of my brother - www.thedarkpower.com - the music on the video is my work though. :-)

Captain Redbeard,

I return your esteemed request to begin a shared exchange of interests in our universal domain, although it be in image or in sprit only, will hopefully be no less of import to us both, (although I will try to avoid the manic manner of the current spiritualists). I have taken note that you are a man of science, yet apply its study in poetic refrain, both visually and writ. This combined formation is similar to my own interests and pursuits, (crude and pale as they are in comparision to more eminent examples), for there is in me a wide ranging thirst to explore, absorb, and reflect upon the matter of this wordly and fantastical (or mythological) existence, questioning its 'accepted' or 'given' state through a set writ or visual form, that nevertheless has within its structure the continual possibility of an adaptive transformation or multiple interpretations utilizing language or iconic/symbolic form (sometimes even
these may combine as often people look over the physicality of writ language, its placement and its shifting replacement).

In this there is the constant classification (or pinning down) of a singular distinction regarding my occupation. Most chose to attempt to describe my visual inclinations as 'cognitively based' and sometimes feel this as being at odds with the expected emotive or instinctual creating hand of the artist. Of course there are those who understand that these qualities are not divisible (that is the intellectual and emotive) much as we as humans cannot separate our minds from our 'heartened' bodily senses or take ourselves out of the natural world (regardless of what the aforementioned spititual 'mediums' purport). While it is true that one can choose to focus more on one (intellectual), than the other (emotive), that is there are degrees, both are ever present. In this belief my pursuits, (or obsessions), seek to encompass expression and penetrating consideration to apply an inclusive aesthetic to (or concurrent) with scholary study or other 'rational' systems of knowledge.

In this philosophy, I share certain beliefs that Mr. Ruskin advocates and endeavors to expand, that is, a more inclusive consideration of how we (and our intended ways and means) are more alike in nature than they are different and therefore to reject or emplace one (aesthetic) out of another (intellectual, scholarly, factual) is to cause a schism that is unnatural, limiting and ultimately mis-guided.

When people connect with my work (and this is more visual than written in the main, which does not bode well for my scribblings) they see and fell its poetic nature or if using technical jargon the inclusion of the meta-physical. In admiration of writers and poets, there are too many to mention, save one who is much on my table, John Donne, whose endless turnings are exceptional.

The other obvious fact about me is that my pen can get to swirling and running in my enthusiasm, and if I have raved you to boredom or put you to sleep with my ponderings, I hope you can forgive a poor poet his ramblings. I do hope to hear more of your discoveries and promise that any additional response will not be so verbose.

Best,

Noah Meernaum

Greetings Captain Redbeard,

I see that you are an inventor and a scientist of the highest quality.

I wish we had more time to exchange existential hypotheses regarding the complex vagaries of the human condition as it relates to a universe seeking to understand itself through the metaphysical creation of intelligent life, but I’m afraid I must cut to the chase. I have found my way unto your esteemed society on a perilous mission of most dire import, for a dreadful beast is currently at large in the Steampunk Empire and it is my intent to essay its capture. I speak of none other than the insufferable Jersey Devil Duck-Dog!

Pray tell, have you happened to have seen this rascally creature hereabouts? I have been tracking it for days on end, and I suspect it could very well be hiding close by, for I am ever aware when I am in proximity to any supernatural being, Also, I happened to have stepped in some of its droppings a mere pittance from this very spot.

If you catch sight of the thing, I urge you to exercise utmost caution, for the Jersey Devil Duck-Dog possesses strange, otherworldly mental powers and is a master at the art of Full Animal Lighter-than-air Levitation, (F.A.L.L. as the phenomena is known to experts in the field.) I can’t begin to tell you of the many and sundry flying animals I have endured while tracking this depraved beast... in fact, I was bitten by an airborne ferret day before yesterday, and the day before that I was narrowly missed by a volatile, flying cow.

I am not making this up.

If you happen upon the Jersey Devil Duck-Dog, avoid eye contact at all costs and be alert for strange changes of behavior in your household pets, behavior like: unreasonable aggression, foaming of the mouth, floating…the symptoms of Duck-Dog Induced Mesmerism are unmistakable.

Would that I could stay longer and share your intriguing company, but I fear I must press on, as the fate of the entire Empire teeters in the balance.

Keep ever vigilant, dear Captain. I see that you are indeed one who regularly ponders the imponderable, and I truly delight in original thinkers. Perhaps when I have a bit more leisure time we can mull things over in a suitable, brain-bending fashion

Until then Captain, I wish you the best.

Your new friend,

-Horatio

Knight: I agree wholeheartedly with you. It's terribly difficult to keep up with the sciences or almost any field today, and trying to be in touch with all of them is virtually impossible. I touch bases on a lot of fields but my major concern at the time is trying to understand the nature of the individual in relationship to him/her self and humanity and that in relation to the cosmos. Another impossibility, but a necessary survival tactic. I'm delighted to discover folks such as yourself and the others in Steampunk Empire and look forward to many stimulating discussions in the arena of Metaphysics. Thanks.

To be honest I am not that knowledgeable about the subject. I can across the whole thing about 5 years ago while doing research on black hole and worm holes for school. The theories about what happens and what they could mean for us, blow my mind (not in the good way). Sorry, but I am glad to hear that they are starting up another program. I try and stay apprised of the goings on but it is really hard to in the science field, thing usually take so long to be discovered I loose track of what was happening before.

we are going to say, kind of yes. I thought that their were not discovered until 1932?
