Elgin replied to Lord Montague Jacques Fromage's discussion Fritz Lang's METROPOLIS...hands down (in my humble opinion) the ultimate (silent) Steampunk movie!
"Yes but our retro-futurism lives in the vision of the future created by artists such as Fritz Lange, Jules Verne, Wells, et. al.  None were Steampunk per se but all have been influential on the genre. "

Elgin replied to Lord Montague Jacques Fromage's discussion Fritz Lang's METROPOLIS...hands down (in my humble opinion) the ultimate (silent) Steampunk movie!
"Although the film features Art Deco style, the film prominently features Steam Power.  The workers live in a world of steam and mechanistry."

Elgin replied to Dirk Blackworm's discussion Steampunk King
"I dunno.  I think King may be too short and simplistic of a title to bestow upon one in the Steampunk realm.  I think we need to think of something more wordy that says the same thing.  Any thoughts?"

"I think it is time we right one of the great wrongs of history and bestow the title of king upon Queen Victoria's betrothed.  Hail King Albert!"

Elgin replied to Lepidoptera Wible's discussion Is there any cheerful Steampunk music?
"Er. Yeah the Victorian Era was not a particularly happy time in history.  It is sometimes referred to as the Mourning period.  There was much technological optimism...but most of that was controlled by greedy tryrants like Edison while…"

Profile Information

Introduction
I am the persona behind the steampunk band "The Melting Clock". I am a relic from the past. Part machine. Part Man. I was born in the late 1800s but my construction was completed around the turn of the century. I have recently been re-awakened and for the most part can only access my memories through song.
