What materials would you gents suggest, and even were I to use wood, where would one aquire a peice of acceptable thickness?See More

"I've been making leather armor for over 25 years...but if I were to tackle a big steampunk power suit I'd probably go with a foam base.  Specifically the foam floor pads from Target and Walmart.  Weight and cost are gonna be big…"
