Your initiation into the Guild comes with responsibility as well as privilege.
Congratulations on your advancement through the evaluation process. Your aptitudes have been tested thoroughly up until this point; we tested your knowledge of history, your knowledge of science, and most importantly, your knowledge of the arcane arts; as well your physical strengths and limits, specialized weapons training, and all the while your powers of observation and deduction were closely monitored.
What we have found, in the end, is that you are what we would all call "exemplary in all fields," which of course means to say you passed everything. The Guild is ready and anxious to receive such a remarkable candidate, and we are all sure you will go on to do incredible things from within our walls, with the resources we have available to you.
And so we would advance you to Contractor, and begin your real work within the halls of the Elmrism Guild of Arcanum. Once you sign your contract, remember, you sign it away for life. Once you are a member of the Guild you will have great status and privilege in our society. You will be above the common law. You will have power and knowledge people everywhere vie for and only few deserve to have.
And all you have to do is sell us your soul.

- I would admit instantly if asked, yes. Half of what I do is fantasy. All of my absolute favorite steampunk involves magic and fantasy on some level, and a Western theme at least on some level as well, because I have a historical crush on Doc Holliday on Wyatt Earp, and I just want to stick a pair of goggles on the both of them and call it good from there. Better, even. Improved. (Though not as good as Val Kilmer in that movie. Nothing is as good as that. Not even with goggles.) I don't know if I can really pinpoint the first time I ever saw steampunk-anything. Honestly it seems more like it was something that was there for a long time, that I'd always been exposed to and had always loved despite having no concept whatsoever there was a much bigger subculture to this stuff than what I was seeing in anime, RPGs, and the like. I hadn't actually HEARD of "steampunk" as a genre and a subculture until, oh, like 3 or so years ago. Not very long, really compared to how much I've seen and learned about it since then. And if you look in my photo albums you'll see how it's affected my artwork, too. I am a cartoonist and comic artist with a very deep love of animation. And I think steampunk fits right into all of these things where I am concerned. (I've read Girl Genius, after all. I love it!)
So these are the things I would ask you to keep in mind as I slowly begin to blog my way through a world and characters of my own devising, which I realize at this point has not even gotten started. Right now I'm just working on setting this thing up the way I want it. But I hope to have something for you soon to sink your teeth into. I plan to first at least upload a description of the world. Maybe of the characters. Not like that kind of thing doesn't become obvious. A good character should do that, after all.
So please, in the mean time, I enjoy conversation, networking, art trades to anyone else who draws out there, and maybe the occasional roleplay if my busy, tumultuous life will permit me. Let's be friends. :)
