Dr. Fidelius replied to Yuya Jeremy Ong's discussion How did Romanticism and Industrialization set the groundwork for Steampunk?
"Wait. We're supposed to have a philosophy??? Why doesn't anyone tell me these things. Feh, I seem to be becoming less steampunk every day. Soon it will have defined itself so far away from "pseudoVictorian adventure stories" that…"

Profile Information

Introduction
I am, first and foremost, a paleontologist. I hold the position of Professor of Applied Paleontology at Miskatonic University, and have been the acting Curator of Enigmatic Specimens since the regretable incident with Dr. Cabel.

It is interesting to do field work for Miskatonic. Marsh may sally forth from Yale and uncover a Brontosaurus, Cope may discover a fine Monoclonius, but our fieldwork tends to disturb that which caused these saurians to go extinct. And we find that it is hungry again.

I understand that many institutes of higher learning do not have a department of Applied Paleontology, and many otherwise well-educated persons are unaware of what constitutes the discipline.

Most Paleontologists limit their study to the fossils found of ancient life. An Applied Paleontologist will be called in when a frozen behemoth discovered in the Arctic wastes is accidentally thawed and begins to run amok on Manhattan, or if an expedition to a newly discovered South Seas island returns with reports of antediluvian creatures.

The most incredibly useful tools developed for the science of Applied Paleontology over the past few years are the variety of mechanical moles, tunnelers, and other burrowing machines our mining interests have turned out.

My own Digging Leviathan, the Claidhaich a Fheumadh, is rather larger than the familiar commercial models, as I have a full laboratory on board. She is approximately the twice the length and diameter of a railway carriage, although with only about the same amount of available space in the interior. Much of the volume is taken up by the engines which power the auger and the drive tracks. The shell is quite thick, to protect the crew from subterranean rivers, magma pockets, Mole People, and the occasional rogue Cave Kraken.

OK I don't know if i did something wrong and comment didn't get posted or if the system is just slow. We are vending at Danny Greenwolf's Faire in Ansonia. We are up the hill to the left in the main field. We have mostly kids costumes but also have two ,very full, racks of lovely ladies clothing suitable for both Ren or Steampunk pirate attire or even every day wear.
