I was walking around down Main/Mission Inn on Saturday and just marveling at the beautiful buildings and their history. I wished I didn't have to work because there was some sort of event going on outside the Riv Museum. A Blacksmith dressed in western garb was setting up his tools next to an anvil and there were various displays, like an old washboard and tub. It looked to be interesting. I'll have to keep an eye out for events. I know that the Dickens festival is coming up, but I don't know if it would attract the steampunk crowd.

You might be interested in "The Manticore Society", which is a So Cal Steampunk group. They have a page here on SPE.

I was also thrilled to see that Abney Park will be at Bar Sinister next weekend! I was there last week for the League of Steam's event, and would love to go back to this venue... and to get to see Abney Park!
