Profile Information

Antoinette du Merciel is the "steamsona" of Meredith Placko.

Fictional Character Bio:
Antoinette grew up in Paris, France - the daughter of Louis-Antoine Merciel, Admiral of the French Royal Airship Navy and Lady Marie-Thérèse Charlotte du Merciel. Ana's mother died when she was only six years old, leaving her to be raised in the care of her aunts, as her father was often away and dealing with the constant tensions between France and Britain.

Always longing for a son, her father indulged her tomboyishness and made sure she was well practiced in the arts of blade and gun. Betrothed to the son of a long-time family friend, Ana's fiance went missing while on an expedition to the New World. Without a second thought, or care to her family, Ana went off in search of her love.

She found him, drunk and in debt, and not at all the charming man he played for his family back home. The night she was to return to France, Ana came back to the hotel to find her money stolen, and her travel documents shredded. Alone and penniless in a foreign land, and no way to get in contact with her family, Ana stole aboard an airship hoping to make her way back to Europe. It wasn't any mere shipping vessel though, it was the pirate ship Amaranth.

Instead of leaving her to rot Captain Dantes struck a deal with Antoinette and now serves as the ship's intelligence officer.

The Empire has pockets!

Posted on March 17, 2010 at 12:50pm 0 Comments

Two weeks til the fashion show and I have decided I want some new pieces to show. It's also set my coals a blazin' to finally get this collection that's been floating around in my ether finished. I started today on a pair of trousers for my gentlemanly companion, and added something he'll be most excited about -- pockets!! The past pairs of pants I've made have been pocketless, and it causes him a great deal of agitation when he has no where to store his possessions; especially when I… Continue

Adventures in Sewing

Posted on March 9, 2010 at 5:35pm 3 Comments

So I made a promise to myself that I would be an active member and use this forum as inspiration and nudging to be creative. On some level, it worked, as I have been a sewing fiend these past few weeks! Sadly, work and my hobby have kept me away from forums and most internetting!

This week has been especially productive. With MegaCon around the corner, I've been working my fool head off with product to sell at the Outland Armour booth, as well as some cute new things to wear. Then, on… Continue

An Introduction... of sorts

Posted on February 3, 2010 at 2:51pm 4 Comments

Always the procrastinator, I sit here exploring the libraries, galleries and vaults of the latest forum I call my home; instead of working on the heaps of fabric piled in bins, on racks and in corners -- calling out to be transformed into something surreal (or sinister) for me to don on my next outing. I could blame it on the broken heater in the basement, and how sewing down there is akin to working in a factory in Greenland. Or I could make the excuse that this is my down time after a long… Continue

Happy Birthday from all of us here at the 42nd!  (personal note from AD:  It's a pity that we were one day late to share our birthdays with Elvis - we'll have to settle for sharing with Jimmy Page.  From the King, to Led Zeppelin - not so bad a step for a Steampunk . . .)

I noticed a past event where you were in Orlando for a Steampunk fashion event, and nearly got excited; then, seeing your Terminus Mechanical Masquerade posts, I checked where your from... Sigh. I recently came to orlando for an extended stay, and was hoping to make local contacts. If you, perchance, have encountered such folk, I would deeply appreciate any introductions you might could make. >< I appologize at how fairly forward this is...

Ah, welcome to Terminus! We'll be quite busy performing around town in March. We sincerely hope to see you at one of our shows. MomoCon is always a good one, and it tends to be free!
