Tailoring Tutorial Video Project

I just wanted to announce that I've recently launched a Patreon campaign to create a full range of video and written tutorials for those who want to learn how to tailor the real way. No costume patterns, just the real deal. This tutelage is going to allow those who are serious about wanting to learn how to create true bespoke garments on their own, and need a place to learn the fundamentals. You can see additional videos I have…See More

Profile Information

I am a Toy Soldier, supporting Dr. Steel's plot to transform the world into a Utopian Playland! As such, I've taken up the study of the age-old art of tailoring and cutting. I've opened up an online shop, The Brass & Mortar Uniform Depot and Tailoring Shop, in hopes that as I get better, I can provide custom tailored garments for Toy Soldiers, Steampunkers, and eclectics alike world-round.

Rev. Ratspeed,

Query:  I am in search for ideas for crafting detachable collars.  I am new to Steampunk so everything is new.   There are several sites I have visited online that describe vintage collars, provide vintage patterns and offer reproductions for sale.   Before purchasing these reproductions, I desire the sense of accomplishment of crafting my own.  I have placed a query with the Stitching Associaton but as yet have not discovered a method of crafting detachable collars.    Any help you might provide me would be appreciated.

With Sincere Wishes for a Pleasant Day,

Phineas W. Sprockett

P.S.  Thank you for recommending in one of your posts, the most excellent work The Affected Provincial's Companion, Vol 1, by Lord Breaulove Swells Wimsy.   I am currently reading it with great pleasure.    PWS

Constructive vs. Destructive Steampunk Philosophy

Posted on June 13, 2012 at 6:30pm 0 Comments

As I'm sure lots of people can agree, it's difficult pinpointing exactly what is Steampunk. The lesser known variants like Dieselpunk and Steelpunk are more acquired tastes, but I find myself liking them all. Any sort of vintage clothing style, I finding more aesthetically pleasing than modern fashions, so as I'm training myself to become a full-fledged tailor I'm hardly keeping myself constrained to just Victorian patterns alone! But no matter what it might be, I never consider Steampunk to…
