Thanks for adding me to your friends list madam, perhaps our paths will cross sometime on down the road in the future...or maybe even in the past if you're a time traveler like myself.

I've been following your blog for quite awhile now and wanted to say that I've been impressed on how you've been able to lift so many steampunk treasures from the aether. As a librarian myself, I bestow my professional gratitude on you for providing such a handy ready-reference resource. XD

Many thanks to you and Bunny for hosting a wonderful salon last night. It's been just over a year now, but is it not amazing how the Queen City steampunk scene continues to grow. Thank you for being an essential member of the League.

My dear Librarian,

It is always a great pleasure to encounter another lover of the written word.
I wish our first contact could be of a more pleasant nature, but I have found my way unto your eldritch society on a perilous mission of most dire import, for a dreadful beast is currently at large in the Steampunk Empire and it is my intent to essay its capture. I speak of none other than the insufferable Jersey Devil Duck-Dog!

Pray tell, have you happened to have seen this rascally creature hereabouts? I have been tracking it for days on end, and suspect it could very well be hiding close by, for I am ever aware when I am in proximity to any supernatural being, Also, I happened to have stepped in some of its droppings a mere pittance from this very spot.

If you catch sight of the thing, I urge you to exercise utmost caution. I fully realize that being a scholar of no small stature, you are no stranger to arcane lore; nonetheless, I would be remiss if I didn’t remind you that the Jersey Devil Duck-Dog possesses strange, otherworldly mental powers and is a master at the art of Full Animal Lighter-than-air Levitation, (F.A.L.L. as the phenomena is known to experts in the field.) I can’t begin to tell you of the many and sundry flying animals I have endured while tracking the depraved beast... Why, I was bitten by an airborne ferret day before yesterday, and the day before that I was narrowly missed by a flying cow!

Of course, I am not making this up.

If you happen upon this creature, avoid eye contact at all costs and be alert for strange changes of behavior in your household pets, behavior like: unreasonable aggression, foaming of the mouth, floating…the symptoms are unmistakable.

Would that I could stay longer and share your esteemed society, for I deem it never to be a waste of time when conversing with one who is as well well-read as you, but I fear I must press on, as the fate of the entire Empire teeters in the balance; I am sure of it, you see, for I have caught wind of ominous portents having to do with the yoke of inauspicious stars and troubling auguries whilst reading tea leaves; portents that involve future scenarios that could lead to dire stuff that won’t be Any Damn Fun Whatsoever lest I get busy with capturing my preternatural quarry.

Keep ever vigilant, my new friend and farewell!

Ridiculously,

-Horatio
