Engineering a Pattern for the your project

I am not really an artist but I have found a way to cheat.  I use Klutz books - preferably the My Fabulous Look Book which allows me to draw an ensemble and handbag, shoes and close up view of the head.  This allows me to envision a look on the female form.  It also allows me to customize for my own measurements.  And I find that I will readily follow a pattern.See More

New discoveries in the craft world!

Went to AC Moore and saw Darice's Chain Maille.  These are jump rings that come in a range of sizes and colors that you can use to create your own chains.  Stop at a local craft store and check it out.  Also, went to Borders book store and discovered "A Daily Creativity Journal 365 Make Something Every Day and Change Your Life!" by Noah Scalin.  I Think a Steampunk version would be interesting.See More

Now five layers of beige lace are completed along with the Turtle Doves piece.  The turtle doves lace was featured in Magic Crochet Magazine.  It was used as trim for a mantle scarf and I used it to trim the hem of my dress in South Maid Cotton French Rose.  Now working doily, Pasque Flower, from the same magazine that I will use as modesty panel for bodice.

Step 1 Completed:

I have finished Step 1 of my Coming Out ensemble.  To explain the name, The Steampunk World's Fair in May will be my first steampunk voyage.  And so, I have named my first ensemble the Coming Out.  It consists of a champagne colored slip I bought from Ross:  Dress for Less for $9.99.  At my height of five feet it is full length dress on me.Step 1:  I made five layers of lace that I will place in tiered levels starting at the bodice.  The lace is crocheted with bedspread weight cotton in beige. …See More
