I wonder when I actually decided that I'd be writing a steampunk novel. I actually can't pinpoint the exact moment.
I had the idea for The Axiom of Depth about a year ago. I wanted to write something that would be more like an urban fantasy as opposed to a strict paranormal romance like my Ancient… Continue

Our attempt at filming the drawing was a rather spectacular disaster -- our steampunk puppet did a fantastic job of pulling a name from a top hat, but the humans filming the event were not nearly so fantastic. Hopefully we'll get it right next time we have a giveaway.
That being said, our thanks go out to everyone who entered the contest! Our winner is...
Congrats, Zaphod! Hopefully the Heart of Gold is… Continue

Circus at the End of the World II
Abney Park with a special musical guest & Four Horseman Productions Studio Seven, Seattle, WA
April 11, 2010 | All Ages
This was only my third Abney Park show, but I've decided to deem it my favourite, even with all its issues (one guy to run sound and lights which were in different parts of the building, forgetting tons of lyrics, the space was too small [again], etc). I had so much fun, even though now I'm well… Continue

Tobias Flint was born October 18th to Genevieve and Martin Flint. His father, Martin was a deckhand for hire, so most of Tobias' childhood was spent on the decks of Airships. With his family struggling to make ends meet Tobias gained his education through whomever would take the time to teach him. When he came of age, Tobias sought a career as a pilot. Starting off as a airmail pilot, Tobias worked his way from job to job, even doing a term or two in the military before being hired as the… Continue

Thursday was the first day of the Tekkoshocon
anime convention at the Convention Center. They must have gotten to be a pretty big deal to add an entire day of content and start on a Thursday. I went down after work and stood in the registration line for an hour and a quarter. That's pretty impressive for the first day of the con with a fraction of the content that will be on Friday and the dealer room not even opening until tomorrow.… Continue

Note from Ay-leen: I got in touch with Michael Redturtle—a steampunk enthusiast from the Southern US—a few months back and we've chatted about how steampunk can become integrated with someone's personal and cultural identity. He offered to pen a few thoughts about his Native ancestry, the journey he took to discover it, and what that has to do with how he steampunks.

Went English Country Dancing last night in Wyoming, OH. They were working on dances that will be done at the Spring ball on the 17th. I really wish some of you Cincinnati Steampunkers would try out English Country Dance... it's totally Steampunk. To prove it, this weekend I'll try to compile a list of Steampunk movies and literature that feature such dancing. :)
