The Steampunk Empire

The Crossroads of the Aether

Abby Sciuto is on the not-as-great NCIS (the one without Ziva David), pushing Steampunk...

I don't know how I feel about that (Aside from "OMG.Abby.Watch"). This, mainly because I remember what mainstream exposure did for the punk subculture and then the gothic subculture.

"Conflicted, yet entertained", I suppose would sum it up.

Yeah... That show sucks eggs. They I think director Shepard's character is the only actor from the other show who will regularly come near that stinker of a series... and only through the computer screen. It was, certainly, like Abby's appearance, a blatant attempt to get people to tune in... and I did it anyway.

After seeing the unarguably bad NCIS-LA , lets face it , they had to call in Abby for backup....for ratings!!! I wont even go into the muggles thing (clueless writers, nothing else). but that's not why i dropped by ..

last night on Craig Ferguson the lovely Miss Helena Bonham Carter came out dressed in a Steamy burgundy slightly bustled dress , and black tailcoat...... And for no apparent reason......I Knooooow!!. ;)

@Rossa de Rhoades - I heart Abby - she reminds me of some perky bouncy friends from back home. I think the spin off is a bit of a stinker though, and they are doing anything they can to bring some personality to the characters and some edginess to the show.

From what episodes I have seen, it looks pretty much like a badly written action edition of the old Beverly Hills 90210 or something. This one was only in exception in their effort to draw people in with cast members from the other. It was funny when they got to the part with Gibbs... no voice or image. I am guessing he absolutely refused to be a part of it (and probably for good reason).

Abby herself, or rather the actor who plays her, seemed a bit reluctant as well. I think she's done her favor and won't be doing that again.

I completely missed the muggles thing, perhaps I should be glad I did?

NCIS LA - Yes, it is a really, really bad spinoff. It is always written terribly. Bad dialogue, stiff characters, and ridiculous stories.

That's why we never watch it. I had hoped that them having some of the cast over from the other episode would be worth it, but no. It was horrible.

It was just bad, and is the show always written that poorly?

Hi, I sat straight up on the couch when steampunk was mentioned, and watched the whole rest of the episode glued!, but I was confused about the muggle thing too. Somebody got their genres wrong there. Hate it when that happens. Im pretty new to all of this, but Ive been reenacting etc. for years, and the exposure can be good or bad, depending on who is doing the scene, how much info the writers actually have about the genre, and wether or not anyone corrects them in their errors.
Hope it helps rather than hurts, Steampunk wasnt reflected upon badly except for the bartenders or so I thought, otherwise it looked like a good thing, and Abbey is such a likeable character that everything shes involved with seems safe and fun.
