The Crossroads of the Aether

Site "help" section and the study of antiquities.

Good evening!

I have not been on this site long, but today I enjoyed navigating around the various features and peeking at other members' pages and photos. Which leads me to my first question: is there a help/F.A.Q./ guide to this site? I wish to personalize my own page a bit more than just selecting background images, but cannot find a guide detailing how to do this. Should anyone stumble across this entry, is there something I am overlooking? Many thanks, and until then I will continue to look myself.

Though I am swamped with teaching and dissertation work, I am beginning some research into women in the 19th century, particularly women in education, their admission to universities (beyond "normal schools" and other teaching institutions), and general social norms. Additionally, I am investigating the early years of archaeological research, back when it was referred to as the study of antiquities, and those undertaking its study were seeking to find dark and forgotten ruins and study exotic cultures, and collect strange and rare goods to fill museums and drawing rooms.

I was astonished to find that searching in the group section of this site for terms like "archaeology" "antiquities" "antiquaries" and other related terms resulted in... nothing. Not one person here is a scholar of antiquities? Doubtful. I have a mind to start one of my own, something like "The Royal Society of Antiquities and Ancient History".

This is an interesting and useful question and I wonder it, too.
