The Crossroads of the Aether

Disney @ Maleficent...The Many Faces Of "Melly..."

Maleficent /məˈlɛfɪsənt/ is a fictional character from Walt Disney's 1959 film Sleeping Beauty, and all other associated media.

She is the (self-proclaimed) Mistress of All Evil, who, after not being invited to a royal christening, curses the infant Princess Aurora to "prick her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel and die" before the sun sets on her sixteenth birthday.

The character is Disney's version of the wicked fairy godmother from the original French fairy tale, loosely based on Carabosse from Tchaikovsky's famous ballet.

She was first voiced by Eleanor Audley in the 1959 film. Maleficent also plays a major role as a recurring villain in the Kingdom Hearts series of role-playing video games and is the primary character in the 2014 live-action film of the same name, portrayed by Angelina Jolie.

Btw, Do you want to know Melly's pro and con attributes ? Well, a blogger took the time to spell it all out in order for readers, to know what Melly, was all about...Lol

Maleficent from SLEEPING BEAUTY

Cons

She gets a little too wound up over not being invited to a party.

Pros

Talk about self-confidence. Maleficent exudes a self-confidence most little girls can only marvel at. Most of the movie is about her anyway because the sissy Aurora girl is asleep for most of it. Like her compatriots in the world of Disney villains, Maleficent is an unmarried professional woman (yes, being a sorceress is a profession). While the little princesses are falling in love with men they’ve never met before, Maleficent is doing magic. And she looks AMAZING doing it.

According to Deviant Art user Claire Hummel a.k.a. *shoomlah...

God, I love dagged sleeves. Almost as much as I love slashed ones. I just want to dag and slash everything I can get my hands on.
I've wanted Maleficent to be the first villain in the series for a while now, ever since I made the mental leap between Maleficent's horns and 15th century horned hennins.

The time period works out pretty well, actually, since I wanted her to look a little more dated than Aurora's 1480's getup- both houppelandes and horned hennins were all the rage during the early- to mid-1400's, and they make for pretty good analogues to her official costuming.  Sexy stuff.

This proves more than any of the previous pieces that these are adaptations, not improvements. I mean, look at the original Maleficent design- how does one improve on PERFECTION

According to doll-artist Noel Cruz-"Repaint is a new form of pop art, wherein the doll's face is treated like a three dimensional canvas, with the added challenge of painting within a very small area and an even greater challenge of recreating a real person's likeness. Since dolls are basically miniature pieces, brush strokes and shading have to be very controlled and precise.

Firebender Esmeralda. The next installment of the Disney/Avatar Crossover. I wasn’t planning on doing one of Esmeralda, but I watched Hunchback recently and I forgot how much I liked her. I especially loved her dance scene. Anyway-

Airbender, Pocahontas. She does paint with all the colors of the wind after all. I’m going to do some more combos of the Princesses with benders from Avatar Last Air Bender. For now, Enjoy-

New Year, new picture. Fire-bender Anna.

Here goes some Disney Characters Courtesy Of Deviant artist...racookie3

Fire Lord Maleficent. And all the Powers of He _ _ ! She has always been one of my favorite villains, and one of my favorites to work on with the Disney/ Avatar series. Gotta go big with the Mistress of All Evil... Lol

Professor Belle and the mystical Library. The newest addition to the Princess/Avatar Crossover. I went back and forth with what to make Belle. She is one of my top 3 favorite Princesses.

Princess Aurora of the Northern Water Tribe, and the 3 Snow Fairies at the Spirit Oasis. I took a little more creative freedom with this one. I feel that Princess Yue and Aurora had some similarities. Being born in to royalty, both betrothed at a young age and falling in love with someone else, and sleeping... A LOT. And the 3 good fairies are snow fairies.

Ursula, the Blood Bending Sea Witch. The first of the Villain cross overs. I feel that Ursula at one point would have been a member of the water tribe, but became corrupted and started using her bending for evil. Ursula has always been a personal favorite of mine.

Firebender Esmeralda. The next installment of the Disney/Avatar Crossover. I wasn’t planning on doing one of Esmeralda, but I watched Hunchback recently and I forgot how much I liked her. I especially loved her dance scene. Anyway-

Megara, Master of throwing daggers. My first, Disney non Princess/ Avatar crossover. I paired Megara from Hercules with Mai from Avatar Last Airbender. Because the two of them have very similar personalities.

Merida of the Freedom Fighters. Because after all, she just wants her freedom! The next character to be avatar… ized !

Jafar, evil adviser to the Earth King, and leader of the Dai Li. I keeping with the Villains/Avatar crossover, I crossed Jafar with Long Feng.

I know Jafar could’ve easily been a firebender, but I felt his personality traits were much like that of Long Feng. He used the Earth King like a puppet, would hypnotize his victims, was manipulative, powerful, and all around a mean guy. That is why he is in green instead of red.

Prince Eric and Ariel of the Water Tribe. This initially was going to be about Prince Eric, but I wanted to draw Ariel again as a water bender. This may probably be the only couple pairing that I do.

The characters most likely to be earth benders are the seven dwarfs. They work all day in a diamond mine. Doc is of course the earth king, because he doesn’t get his hands dirty and is the appointed leader. When the dwarfs discover Snow White in their kingdom, they take her in and teach her earth bending. She’s not so weak and innocent any more.

Who better to be a member of the Kyoshi Warrior clan ? This is my 5th installment of the Disney/Avatar mash-up.

Rapunzel of the Ancient Sun Warriors. Because after all, Rapunzel did get her powers from the sun. And she has the fire of a fire bender. In the background is Pascal as a little Dragon.

Tiana of the Swamp Benders. Things get dangerous down in the bayou. This is the next installment of my princess/Avatar series. Tiana creates an alligator moss creature to help her protect the swamp land.

“That girl is on FIRE !!!” I decided to make Jasmine as the firebender simply because of her fiery personality. And Jasmine has her faithful side kick Rajah, who is a powerful fire nation, lightning tiger.

Waterbender, Elsa. Just in time for the holidays.

Disney has released ten subtlety animated character posters for their upcoming movie musical Into the Woods. I like what I've seen from the film so far. I especially like the tone.

You can check out the trailer right here if you want.

The movie was directed by Rob Marshall and it has a great ensemble cast that includes Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, James Corden, Anna Kendrick, Chris Pine, Johnny Depp, Lilla Crawford, Daniel Huttlestone, Tracey Ullman, Christine Baranski, MacKenzie Mauzy, Billy Magnussen, Tammy Blanchard, Lucy Punch, Richard Glover, Frances de la Tour, Simon Russell Beale, Joanna Riding, and Annette Crosbie.

Into the Woods is a modern twist on the beloved Brothers Grimm fairy tales, intertwining the plots of a few choice stories and exploring the consequences of the characters' wishes and quests. This humorous and heartfelt musical follows the classic tales of Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Rapunzel—all tied together by an original story involving a baker and his wife, their wish to begin a family and their interaction with the witch who has put a curse on them.

The movie is set to be released this Christmas. Thanks to The Huffington Post for the posters.
