Adele Blanc-Sec

The classic French Victorian occult/crime/adventure series set before and after WWI, starring Adèle Blanc-Sec, novelist-turned-investigative-reporter, is being brought to you on the big screen by Luc Besson. Well, at least in France. It appears to involve mummies, dinosaurs, lovely costumes, and at least a little mechanical science of the weird kind.

It is not Victorian, but Edwardian, and only Edwardian by the loosest definitions which extend to the signing of the Treaty of Versailles in 1919 instead of Edward's death in 1910.

The Victorian Era is 1837–1901.

Comment by Eric 'Merlin" Hanson on February 15, 2011 at 10:09am: I just obtained this film from Amazon.com and really enjoyed it:) The copy gives you the ability to watch it in french with subtitles, or a rather well done English dubbed version (if you can stand dubbing, it drives me nuts though.) Great visuals and overall a really fun film!!
