While the special effects and acting are much better in this version, the 1960 version is far more faithful to the novel. This version alters the third act of the story and thus disregards the major socio-political theme of H.G. Well's novel.

Little bit of trivia: in 1960 the protagonist is called George, in 2002 he is called Alexander, but in the novel he only referred to as the Traveler.
