Greetings, I just joined and found this group with like minds of how gaming used to be. Though I may have my share of console and computer games, I was introduced to RPG's in early 2000's, enjoyed it ever since. I even created some of my own.

hi I am new. i just wanted to ask if anyone has seen the new return to ravnica set for MTG? I found a site where a guy is making D&D classes for the ten guilds. Thinking of running a game with them. Plus the Izzet seem like steampunk magic users to me. what do you think?

Does anyone remember Blackmoor? The fantasy setting where most of us got our first taste in science fantasy in D&D?

Found an old set of rules for a table top miniature skirmish game titled Reencounter. Relatively good rules for snap-shot One miniature = One Character...ranging from French and Indian War up to WWI. Contact Me if you are interested in a copy and we'll work out how to get it to you.

If you're interested in retro (i.e. Gygaxian-style) roleplaying, then I recommend that you run--not walk--to Grognardia. http://grognardia.blogspot.com/

@Guildmaster Kendrick - Whenever I think about 4E, I think of this utterance from my former colleague and still-amazingly-talented RPG designer Wolfgang Bauer:

"There’s the lurking sense that the 4E designers are cribbing from bad manga, rather than building on the shoulders of the D&D game’s own mythos. That’s a lost opportunity, and it’s a shame that a game that once prized itself on appealing to an educated audience is no longer even aiming for that. Basically, the PHB2 assumes you are sort of an idiot, whereas Gygax always assumed you were smarter than the average reader. The shift leaves me a little offended."

I still loved 2nd the most, I also loved 1st but it was hard. Most players I am not sure could handle it now. I love bringing old school tactics to newer players, they can not even handle most of my tactics. As a GM/DM I have almost given players heart attacks with my random twists and surprises.

Also it is nice to see this group come alive again.

I've read it, not had an opportunity to play it, and I understand the "effort to balance the game", but don't like the "let's give everyone 'magical' powers" or the obvious nods to WoW... like the "roles" that suddenly every character has... I mean, leaders were who we chose for the night, not which class best fit the role...
