- I'm a professional writer and an armchair airship historian who's recently become curious about the steampunk genre. I've also been informed that I have a marvelous crooning voice, however as this compliment arrived via anonymous postcard I tend to question its fundamental verisimilitude.

Blimprider said… Let me help you get started. Writers are a fair minority around here, though we are well-treated for all of that. There are several groups that cater to writers. The one I frequent is http://www.thesteampunkempire.com/group/theaetherguildofwriters. I'm sure they all have points to recommend them. The Guild's points are that it's pretty active, the level of conversational intelligence is above average, and I have yet to encounter a troll in there.
I'm not a recruiter, and won't get a prize if you join. I'm just tossing it out for your consideration if you decide a writing group might be for you. This is a good one.

Welcome to the circus, Doctor, or should I say zoo, as a great portion of this population consists of cuckoos, twits, and loons... I too am a writer, and while I have made a few bucks at it, it would be a stretch to call me a professional. Perhaps "Glorified Hobbyist" would be closer to the mark. In any case, should you wish to chew the fat at any point, drop by and pull up a chair.
