Steampunking difficulty- advice?

I am living on the road, as many of you know.

This is making my steampunking a little difficult.

I am a big fan of dress up in all of its forms. And I love wearing my steampunk a la steamcasual. Of course, I can't wear nearly what I want on a normal day-to-day basis since we are on the road and have limited access to washing. It makes things really ...interesting. But I am not exactly in jeans and a t-shirt, so I am happy with that!

Autumn Fashions

So, the stores are tossing their garish summer wear to the clearance racks, and the Fall Collections are coming out. I went on a bit of a shopping spree today, and I am happy to report that Victorian influenced garments are a staple once more. I was pleased to note that a wider variety of colors seem to be represented this year as well, which is a refreshing addition to the myriad of khaki, olive and brown that I've already got. Day 102... I missed announcing Day 100 on here

Yesterday, I kept thinking in my head "If I had a spotted puppy for every day I have been on the road, I could make a Disney movie." ^_^

Start of Chapter IV (part 1)

Dear Reader,

Thank you for following the progress of my daily writing and the development of the first draft of my book. Today I started chapter 4 and wrote 511 words. The Actual End of Chapter III

Dear Reader,

This morning saw the overly successful end of chapter 3. This chapter that seemed each day like it was only a page away from conclusion actually took another 1285 words this morning to find its end. The whole chapter is 5422 words long, which is far too big and a lot of it will most likely be taken out during the first edit, but I had fun introducing a new character who I had been eager to get into the action.

Almost End of Chapter III

Dear Reader,

It was my sincere belief that I was going to conclude chapter three this morning, but after 947 words my characters are still in the parlor and are only just retiring for the night; I need to clear the scene so that the murder may take place and finish the chapter with the discovery of the body. Regardless of the kerfuffle...

A little tea will help. This has been my... 'mantra', if you will, for the last decade or so. Only once have I found tea to be the source of miscellaneous troubles. But enough about that.

The Albatross' repairs are now fully complete. We set out, 9 days ago now, towards our next pick-up. End of Chapter III (part 1)

Dear Reader,

It has been a better morning, but I still fell short of my 1000 word target. Today I managed 739 words, but I am promising myself the remaining 300 words or so (it might actually take 2 pages more to finish this chapter) later today. Chapter 3 still concludes with the murder that is going to push a lot of the rising action forward.

Middle of Chapter III (part 2)

Once more I am sitting in the lobby of a hotel having just managed to add just under a page to chapter 3. This morning's effort produced 235 words; far below my target, but at least it is something. Life update, faire update. Come read and love me! I need love! True story.

I wish I had more access to the internet. I often find myself cramming all my work into a few short hours on someone else's computer, and then I don't have time to be all eloquent and engaging on the blog. It makes my travels sound far less interesting to be all "did this, this, this and then this", when I know I could be talking in much more detail, actually helping you *care* about what I am doing. I used to be so good at doing this, but I guess it helped that I had all the time in the world… Continue
